Public Housing General Information
The Washington
County Housing Authority is the provider for Washington County for all Public
Housing. Public Housing consists of Rent Assisted Communities located throughout
the County that were constructed to meet the rental needs of low-income citizens.
The goal is to provide housing that is decent, safe, and sanitary. To meet the
goal, the Housing Authority carefully selects Residents using criteria established
by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and executes a
Lease with Residents in accordance with HUD Guidelines. Properties are inspected
at least annually, and repairs and upgrades are made to keep the properties in
good condition.
The Housing Authority describes in detail both in its Annual
Plan and in its various Policies how the Program is to be administered, as well
as what major upgrades are planned.
For those interested in becoming a
Resident, the steps are simple:
- Complete and submit an Application.
-
Take steps and submit information as requested when you are contacted.
-
Report to the Office when called to sign a Lease.
We recommend that all
visitors to the Web Site review the various Web Pages to get a fuller understanding
of the Public Housing Program.
